Unveiled Lumen, our generative cognitive platform

- Growing investment in Research & Development to leverage Generative AI for industry
- Launch of Lumen, Camozzi Group's proprietary cognitive platform, which generates high-value insights to support business decision-making by leveraging the entire data lifecycle—from generating analyses and forecasts to enabling real-world actions that support both people and machines
Milan, July 23, 2026 - Camozzi Group, an Italian multinational operating in industrial automation, subtractive and composite manufacturing, and the development of mechatronic solutions for advanced manufacturing, today announced its 2025 financial results.
Throughout 2025, the Group continued to invest significantly in Research & Development, with a particular focus on Generative Artificial Intelligence for industrial applications. Camozzi Group launched Lumen, a proprietary cognitive platform that integrates external information with internal data from ERP, MES, SCM, quality, energy, maintenance, Research & Development, and finance systems, enabling it to understand and interpret information within its operational context. The platform is designed to create a new layer of intelligence above existing enterprise systems, connecting data, people, and processes to support faster, more reliable, and context-aware business decisions.

We see Generative AI as an entirely new production process—one that operates on the data lifecycle, transforming information into analyses, forecasts, and actions that support both people and machines. AI will soon become an integral part of every manufacturing process, to the point where it can already be considered a digital production process that complements the physical production of goods. AI does not replace people. Human expertise remains essential. It is domain knowledge that enables people to guide these technologies and ensure the integrity of the data lifecycle by developing algorithms and formulating the right prompts for Large Language Models. In this context, education and continuous training will become increasingly critical to unlocking the full potential of cognitive platforms, which are true accelerators of decision-making and powerful problem-solving tools.

Lumen is built on a multi-agent architecture, where specialized AI agents collaborate to retrieve information, interpret it, correlate data, and deliver contextualized responses. This architecture is complemented by a hybrid framework specifically designed for industrial environments, based on two complementary layers of intelligence. The first layer operates in the cloud, orchestrating AI agents, accessing the latest and most advanced LLMs, integrating external knowledge sources, and enabling capabilities that would be difficult to replicate in isolated environments. The second layer operates locally within manufacturing facilities, leveraging open-source LLM agents together with deterministic components to ensure operational continuity, data confidentiality, process control, and direct interaction with machines, production-line data, and plant systems.
These two layers work seamlessly together. The cloud provides cognitive computing power, continuous model updates, and access to external knowledge, while the local layer ensures controlled execution, response times compatible with manufacturing operations, and full governance of sensitive industrial data. This hybrid approach enables artificial intelligence to operate close to the factory floor without sacrificing the capabilities offered by today's most advanced AI models.
Thanks to this architecture, Lumen goes far beyond a traditional chatbot capable of answering questions. It can understand in real time what is happening across manufacturing operations, explain why it is happening, and identify the most appropriate actions to take. Its unique value lies in transforming manufacturing expertise into a governed cognitive infrastructure that simplifies and accelerates business decision-making.
Because Lumen supports decision-making across the entire organization, ensuring maximum reliability is essential. To address the well-known challenge of AI "hallucinations" — plausible but inaccurate responses — Camozzi Group has developed two innovative proprietary technologies:

Because Lumen supports decision-making across the entire organization, ensuring maximum reliability is essential. To address the well-known challenge of AI "hallucinations" — plausible but inaccurate responses — Camozzi Group has developed two innovative proprietary technologies:
- Certified Data: a technology that enables the platform to maintain a continuously verifiable connection to enterprise data sources. This approach combines the reasoning capabilities of artificial intelligence with the reliability of real, traceable industrial data.
- Disambiguator: a component that instantly identifies the correct meaning of abbreviations, technical codes, and terminology within their operational context. By reducing interpretation errors, it enables more reliable interactions with industrial data for technicians, operators, and decision-makers alike.
Beyond these proprietary technologies, Lumen is designed as a system that is:
- developed in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 42001 standards for information security and responsible AI governance;
- compliant with the EU AI Act and the Cyber Resilience Act;
- built on deep domain expertise, making it highly specialized and readily adaptable to virtually any manufacturing or industrial environment;
- model-agnostic and fully interoperable with any external AI model, software platform, or digital tool;
- open, collaborative, and scalable
Lumen represents our concrete response to the economic, social, and cultural challenges facing both Italian and European manufacturing—from the growing competitive pressure of U.S. technology companies to demographic change. Europe remains one of the world's manufacturing powerhouses because it possesses something that hyperscalers often lack: deep industrial domain expertise. This is a tremendous competitive advantage that we must preserve and embed at the core of our AI platforms. Generative AI is a powerful vehicle for transforming our manufacturing knowledge into faster operations and better decisions, enabling European industry to strengthen its competitive position in global markets.
